With the installation of a large-scale industrial robot in October 2019, the faculty's "Labor für computergestützten Modellbau" will be expanded for researching and teaching digital manufacturing processes. This will allow future construction methods, such as the 3D printing of shaped bricks or the binding of geometrically complex wooden constructions with subtractive processes, to be investigated prototypically at scales that go beyond architectural model construction.

Robot arm - ABB IRB 4600-60

The robotic arm can be used to develop and test machined fabrications. The extreme mobility enables a new way of looking at the design process and the representation or manufacturing methods.

Projects such as "Lightbot" and "Printing Stone" are examples of the diversity of applications.
